Salzburg is popular for years as the city of Mozart, the birth place of famous 18th century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Apart from Mozart, Salzburg is the birth place of persons like Christian Doppler, an expert in acoustic theory, Joseph Mohr, who with the contribution of Franz Gruber composed and wrote the text of Silent Night, and Thomas Bernhard (writer), and Herbert Von Karajan (notable musician and conductor) and many others.
